Important Information about Sacraments: Family Faith Formation is part of the preparation process for First Communion and Confirmation. | Who should register? All students in 2nd grade (regardless of whether they attend a Catholic school). Important Information about Sacraments: Students must be enrolled in Family Faith Formation (FFF) for two consecutive years prior to receiving the Sacrament of First Holy Communion. In most cases, this means students begin Family Faith Formation in 1st grade and then begin First Sacraments preparation in January of their 2nd grade year. Students enrolled in a Catholic school are exempt from the Family Faith Formation requirement because they receive formal religious instruction as part of their school curriculum. However, students must have been enrolled in a Catholic school for at least one full year prior to beginning sacramental preparation to qualify for this exemption. Catholic school students should register only for the First Sacraments preparation program. Please note that all sacraments are received through the family’s parish of registration. Participation in Family Faith Formation or attendance at a Catholic school does not transfer sacramental preparation or reception to another parish unless prior arrangements have been approved.More about the program: Students will spend three classes preparing for First Reconciliation and three classes preparing for First Communion. Dates for the First Reconciliation Service and First Communion Mass will be provided at the parent meeting. | Who should register? The class meets twice a month and includes a handful of take-home assignments. There will also be a required retreat preceding the Confirmation Mass in the Spring.
